we had a ball

I find myself saying this nearly every day: "Where does the time go?!"

You too?

I am pleased to say that I am the mother of two recently graduated daughters! Their high school graduation was last Sunday!

Around here folks celebrate that occasion with yet another occasion: The Graduates' Open House. And what seems to be one of the most important roles in any celebration, namely an Open House? Besides being surrounded by friends and family, that is?

You got it. The food!

"What's that up there in that photo?" you ask?

That my friend, is a red velvet cake that has been baked...cooled...and crumbed into a large bowl.

The white stuff? Cream cheese frosting.

"Mmm-mm-mmm."

So...a few tedious steps later (you can follow this link and be provided with each and every detail ever needed) and we have chocolate-dipped cake balls! Did you hear me say "Mmm-mm-mm?"

Uh-huh. You can say it with me. You know you want to.

"Mmm-mm-mmm."

Sorry to be so repetitious...but my mother always told me to "never speak with your mouth full of food." I always listen to my mother.

Mmm. A hot cup of joe and a cake ball. Life is good.

I LOVE leftovers.

They look beautiful, but I'd have to try a different combination since I don't like cream cheese. Maybe I can get Grace to make some this weekend?

Congratulations! I remember how great it felt when my boys graduated both from HS and college. (boy doesn't that make me sound old?)

Oh my. If only I could just reach through the screen and steal a little bite. So delicious.

Glad to catch up with you and that snow has finally gone. Thank goodness for the beautiful green of spring.

I was wondering how the open house went. If the cake balls are any indication, it was a hit! I am going to HAVE to make these!

Jacob graduated, also. I'd never heard of an Open House until we moved to Indiana. Must be a Midwest thing. Jacob was not too excited about the idea, so we're planning an evening weenie roast later this summer- we have two camps, and a week long family reunion to get through, first. My knees get weak just thinking about it... thinking of you always. (My verification word is "ingsity" it sounds like a cute word you would use!)
